I expect so much mooore from her. I was not at all impressed or satisfied by that medley. This is from someone who supports Kelly Rowland big time.

If she plans on being an artist who TOURS theWORLD this year; she’d better come up with something better than that. If she’s bored with the DC medley, and doesn’t feel the need to go all out for it VOCALLY and ENERGY wise, then she should leave it out of her set all together. That was one of the laziest performances I’ve ever seen Kelly give and I KNOW she’s capable of better. I’ve seen and heard it before. I want to see and hear it again…and again and again and again. CONSISTENCY is KEY.
You can’t be mad at your fans for being fickle if you’re a fickle performer.

    June 23rd, 2010 at 11:16 pm

I agree. Rico Love talked about how strong Kelly is vocally & her being a powerhouse vocalist, & all, but look what she’s doing live. He sat there & said he blamed the fans for not seeing her potentially, of her being a powerhouse vocalist, but no shade, but just about everytime I see Kelly she’s out of breath, struggling to sing the most simplest songs, & i’m like wtf?! Like the national anthem for instance, if u can hit the C#5 in When Love Takes Over, how was it hard to belt a good note & put some good vocal arrangements in the National Anthem. Her success is/was overshadowed by the focus on Beyonce, but @ the same token she let it happen, & she didn’t work to her full potential. She needs vocal lessons, I heard she’s getting some, but she really need to listen & go in, or get another vocal coach. & If she wanna be a Commander in charge of her career she needs to let the DC Medley go, that’s sad. Even if some of your songs aren’t big hits, perform songs on your album, maybe some that people haven’t listened too. I believe in Kelly, but I hope she shows her full potential LIVE with this album. & I am a fan, but a real one!

    June 23rd, 2010 at 11:34 pm

I agree with both of you. I think she needs to watch several of her live performances on YouTube and reflect on what she sees. I have seen worse from her though. Hopefully she did great on When Love Takes Over and Commander!!!

Ok…..emmmmm, I know that Kelly’s fans like to give objective, honest opinions,….but I’m just not seeing what the strong criticism is about. That was a fantastic live performance. No instrument or machines that make it seem as if one is singing live, but really live. I don’t know too many artists that can do that. Sometimes….I just wonder. Kelly Rowland Keep it up, you rock!!!!!

@ truth always, i guess they did not see the fan’s comment who was actually present at the concert. She has performed for many years. When it is time to show all those fancy high pitched vocals she will. Her and her team know exactly what they are doing. I’m just trying to figure out why there is all this extra expectation for Kelly, but we have to remember the only expectation she has to reach is the one she sets for herself. Not that she cannot reach any expectation laid out for her, just wondering why fans are not so critical of any other superstar, that she sings way better than. What gives? I loved the performance. She did a good job.

I agree with the above statements. I am a true supporter of Kelly’s but she has to be able to perform live well! She has to nail all of them. Alot of Urban fans wrote her off after that performance on the BET Awards show back in 07′. That’s y they criticize her the way they do. She has had 2/3 albums! She could have performed a well-known song from her 1st album: Stole, or Can’t Nobody, she could have performed Dilemma how she did it on the DC Lovin It Tour. Also her song Like This, Work, the song she wrote or song by herself on Destiny Fulfilled album called Bad Habit, she also performed this song on the DF Luvin It tour. She could have performed When love takes over, Commander & also her new International song Rose Colored Glasses. What she is doing is going backwards; she is showing success acheived from being in a group not as a solo artist. Kelly perform your songs, not Destiny’s Child songs! Your fans are coming to see Kelly not DC. I couldn’t help but wish Beyonce’ could come up their & take tht mic out of her hand. Its ok for Beyonce’ to do it bcuz she is already established. Please stay away from mentioning beyonce & DC. It’s important for your fans to know your music history. I always wondered why u never performed any of your older songs… that is crazy! & plllzzz get sum backup singers! Let’s get that voice good & trained!!!

Okay now I get it. Those are not Kelly Rowland fans. Either that or they have been paid by someone who is just pissed that she performed the Dc medley, which she has all rights to perform. Kelly ignore them, don’t know what they are doing on your site, but it is haters trying to break your spirit!!!!!!!!!! You did an awesome job!
Geez I mean paragraphs, you must know you are doing something right. They are scared that people will only start to associate those songs with you. Stay in your faith, you need it!!!!

Did you see the reaction of the crowd? Maybe because they already knew that the songs she performed were the ones that the crowd in Singapore was familiar with. It was probably strategic. Everyone already knows she has an awesome voice. Sounds like you are mad at something. Kelly Rowland you are a SUPERSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!

who me? Im not mad at anything. I just want her to be successful. I would much rather for someone to tell me the truth then let me keep making the same mistakes. I am a fan & she is the brand. Everytime she gets on tht stage to perform she is marketing herself. the better her music & performancess the more fans gets on board.

A fan review of her singapore show

Ps – i love how different both of her sites are man! i love getting diff info from both – keeps my kelly fix on lock!!!!

    Work
Kelly started off with a bang! She was a commander from the start and she sang the whole song live. Which is a plus point, if you ask me. By this time, people were shaking and dancing. It was nice. The JJ Lin fans were annoying, but at least they helped sang…

    Dilemma
YESSSSS. The Nelly/Kelly classic got everyone singing and this was where I got the most interaction with her. HAHA. I did the vocal runs with her and it was amazing. By this time, Kelly’s crowd interaction was on point.

    DC Medley
As usual. Started out with Say My Name, she didn’t really sing on that one. Then Bootylicious, about a verse and a chorus, then Independent Women, topping it off with Survivor. By this time, it started to drizzle and I couldn’t risk hurting my camera, so in my bag it went.

    LMB Intro
The Lose My Breath intro was a surprise. The dancers came out in berets and started marching everywhere, it was nice. It’s like a mini-Rythm Nation dance sequence but in no way was trying to imitate. It was nice on its own with bits and pieces of the LMB and Commander choreography. And by this time, it was POURING.

    Commander
For the most part, she, sadly, didn’t sing live, though understandably, the song is tough to be sung while running from one end to another, but she sang the chorus live and it was amazing. The runs, everything. It was nice seeing an actual live performance of this song.

    When Love Takes Over
Kelly is always shocked. Why? She’s always shocked when people know her song. So when people were doing the “Tonight!” and the “EEEYEAAAAAAAAAHHH”, her face was like, “YOU ACTUALLY KNOW THIS?”

YES I DANCED IN THE RAIN. HAHAH. I was also first in the row.

HAHA. All in all it was a great show. I didn’t get to meet her or shoot any videos. So sorry about that. For more pictures, head on down to FYKR. And Tumblr is being a bitch so I’ll upload more pictures later.”

—some of u so called fans have gotta be kidding me – this is not the only song she has done as u can clearly see from a fan posting above who was actually there – i actually love the performance – the sstage seemd a little bare like a live band and a little stage decor but other than that ms kelly put it in – she did work dilemma when love takes over and commander so what is the big fuss about!! we got singers like rihanna and keyshia cole and ppl who have been in the game longer who cant match ms kelly as far as the overall package. she always go in and her live vocals have come along way from where they used to be – u cant even deny that – if new fans in the us whom she hasnt even had that much support from likes the performance then whats the damn problem – from the way yall talked i was expectin a horrible turnout but she sound fine to me – a little winded but i know what to expect from her! so if u are hear to stay then do so – if not then leave – U KNOW WHO U ARE!!!

Lyric Lee, you know I love you,but I STRONGLY disagree with your comment. I agree with Kelly Fan. Kelly needs supporters who will tell her the truth, not tell her that every thing she does “rocks” when clearly it doesn’t. I stand by what I said in my first post. I EXPECT MOOORE and I expect better because I know that’s what Kelly is capable of. I have been a K-Row supporter since 1997. The first time I saw Destinys Child(the No,No,No video),Kelly was the one I noticed and she was the one who’s voice I wanted to hear. When I finally did hear it(on the “With Me” remix) I was sold. I knew the girl had something special. I know that Kelly is talented. What I don’t know is why that talent is not displayed during every live showing. One day,Kelly sings perfectly. The next day she sings as though she’s scared of her own voice;and to be even more truthful,I’ve never heard Kelly OWN the DC medley. I’ve heard her do it well but I’ve never heard or seen her make it completely her own. The closest she’s ever come to it was her House of Blues performance. Her T4 on the beach performance of the medley was decent too,but that above performance was NOT the bizzness. I mean, how many times is she going to walk back and forth from one end of the stage to another? How many times is she going to put the mic in front of her mouth and simply prance around not singing any thing, and when she does sing, how many times is she going to hold back or half-ass some random riff as though she’s some type of amateur. She’s not an amateur. She’s a VETERAN! I expect her to perform like one;and if you people who insist on buttering Kelly’s toes have a problem with that then you’re just going to have to have a problem because that’s NOT going to change. LYRIC, YOU KNOW HOW I AM.

I just finished watching the other clips. I loved her energy level during her performance of Commander. I suppose it was easier for her to be more energetic, more rythmic and even take part in some of the choreography since she lips that song up until the very end. Maybe she should pre-record the medley and/or any uptempo song that she performs and simply sing her ballads live.

    June 24th, 2010 at 12:30 pm

I do think that these performances from Kelly were weak, but at least you can tell that she CAN SING! I mean, Kelly’s worst performances are still better than any of the other female artist’s performances! I will not bring up names, but 20 something year old females who are selling sex to the fullest and relying on fashion and big stage settings, sing horribly live but get praised around the world for performing!

One of the females I’m talking about F**KING SOLD OUT SHOWS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHEN SHE DOESN’T EVEN DANCE NOR SING WELL, JUST WALKS AROUND HALF NAKED IN RAUNCHY OUTFITS! WTF? Take a good look around… there’s a 16 year old male, who just hit puberty, who gives horrible performances but is still selling albums like hot cakes, and a 17 year old female who wants to prove that she’s “an adult” by being slutty and nasty onstage and has one of the worst singing voices of all time! Oh and some chick who thinks she can rap about partying.

I don’t think anyone cares if she can sing well live or not, it just depends on the songs performed and Kelly should be able to get a pass because she’s actually talented and works her a** off! It’s clear to see that her voice is tired from performing at so many places. I know she can do better, this was just a small concert performance, but I do hope that she can perform better so she can be known for HER VOICE AND TALENT, not just for catchy songs. If untalented people can sell out shows with their awful performances, then the same people better not criticize Kelly for having an off day. BTW, I’m not referring to the people on here, unless they support those bubblegum artists.

Lovely Tee, it’s so sweet of you to be so discreet and tactful. I guess I’m just not there yet. I don’t own a single RIHANNA record. I wouldn’t be caught dead listening to JUSTIN BIEBER. Is KE$HA 17? I happen to think NIKI MINAJ sucks. So you certainly aren’t reffering to me.

Still, I’m not going to apologize for wanting Kelly to be the best she can be.

    June 24th, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Why we arguing? lol…. We’re all Kelly supporters so lets try not to freak out about every opinion. We should have a bit more “Unity”… lol.

Anyway… these are good performances but it’s the quality of the videos aren’t that great so it’s not like you can judge her every move and note. I don’t know why people are freaking out because she does a DC Medley. Half of the world knows her as Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child and the other half knows her as simply Kelly Rowland. You can’t expect her not to do a DC Medley. She hasn’t achieved Bey’s success where that other half can disconnect her from the DC’s hits. Bey herself does DC Medley’s at her tours and some shows. A Medley is called a medley for a reason, your not getting the full song, it’s kinda just like a teaser for the people who love and Destiny’s Child.

I do agree that Kelly doesn’t have the best vocal stamina. She can’t really go all out in dancing and jump right back to singing, very few people can. But, as hinted at above, there artists who can’t do either and don’t have a smidget of the talent she has yet they are more popular and sell way more records. She has been traveling the world nonstop since the campaign started and can’t expect her to be 100% on it every time although that’s what we’d like to see. Like said before, there other artists don’t have half the energy Kelly has but still manage to have legions of fans. She’s a human being. Give her a LITTLE slack. Although now more than ever, she hasn’t gotten really any room to do so. Besides, not downplaying the show and the fans who may have bee there but she wasn’t at some big award show where it’ll be televised and a review of her performance will be in the papers the next day. It was a small venue in Singapore…

Some of your comments are a bit harsh… Do not forget that Kelly is flying all over the world doing tons of interviews, performances, and appearances…. and you can not expect her to be PERFECT all the damn time… there is no artist that is 100% all the time…. not even the queen B…. Think about this …. she left the UK to fly over to sing in Singapore… huge time zones… if you travel you would know this…..she was probably a little tired….Work it KELLY!!! do you….

The expectations people have of Kelly are high because of her potential. But she sells herself short and is too apologetic. I watched her on the Celeb Poker Tour with Nelly and that is an excellent metaphor for how she handles her music career. She was winning the game (had the right cards in her hand to win, just like her talent and potential), but in the end, she let naysayers and her OPPONENT convince her to fold. While I can see that Kelly’s self-confidence is improving, she’s far from seeing herself as the kind of star I think her fans want her to be. I don’t believe that when she envisions her own success that she sees herself as a megastar. Doing a dance album was a risk that I believe would have paid off seriously given the current music climate. But Kelly folded when she chose TWO different non-dance singles to release in the U.S. If you recall, she said she believed in Commander. She wanted that to be the single internationally and domestically, but kept saying she might do a different U.S. single. That shows a lack of confidence in what she had with Commander. The U.S. market has shown that it is open to dance with the support for folks like Gaga, BEP, and the Cruz kid (don’t know his name). My point: I don’t think Kelly wants mega-stardom. I think she wants to be able to live comfortably and sing for a living. I hope she finds space in her career and where she is truly living to her tremendous potential and is happy. EVERYONE is rooting for you Kelly. Don’t settle and don’t fold.

    Truth Always
    June 24th, 2010 at 11:31 pm

Okay! Emmmmm……..I would like to see Kelly Rowland fans more unified in there support for her.
I would like to see Kelly Rowland fans understand though they may have some valid points, her and her team who have been in the music business forever know more than they do. So it is best to keep those points of views to oneself.
I would like to hear and see Kelly Rowland fans not be so critical of her. I mean really….WHY!!
Yes, we know she is beautiful, talented and believe in her potential….some of us have even taken on silently the quest of seeing her enter this level we have concocted in our minds of superstardom we believe she should reach.
We need to realize because she has a humble and accepting spirit, we feel like we know her so well, and it is a space that she has invited her fans into…not too many other superstars would even indulge. So at the end of the day….when some of you fans want to get into the I know it all…and I’m going to get her straight about her career path, performances and choices, let us remember that we are her supporters, and we are here to support! We all want her to do well, and secretly… yes….we want her to surpass other superstars. Again remember Kelly Rowland listens to the ONE who will guide and lead her in her choices and her performances. Believe me when I say none of us have the knowledge or acumen that will take her where she is going. It can’t even be compared to the ONE who does. The performance was good and I believe even though she is already a star, she is about to do the unexpected.

I don’t get what the negative comments and arguments are all about. My review of the clip that I saw, is this:
    1. Kelly Rowland MUST stop singing DC songs or sing them less. She has done more DC songs during her performances over the years than any other member. Its time she let go and focus on Kelly as an artist. (That’s the only way interviewer will ask less about DC reunion and other members). She has songs that has not done will that she don’t performance, for e.g. “Can’t nobody” , “Daylight”, “Comeback”, etc. She need to rehearse and perform them. She will be amaze of how many album she can sell from her two prior albums.
    2. Vocally it was ok; could have been much better or worst. I have heard Kelly sing worst and better than this. Part of the “Commander” was lip syncing, to me the other performance were done live so give her a break. (many artist record the songs live and we think that they are sing live but they are not. Then we compare them with the one who actually sing live. That is unfair)
    3. Kelly really got the crow involved in each performance by letting them sing sections of the song. This was good; but it has its disadvantages. A. People will think that she does not know the song or she is lazy or she cannot hit the notes to the song. B. It gets annoying to listen to. C. It interrupt the vibes and rhythm of the performance. etc. Sometimes less is more and in this case I it is.
    4. Kelly NEED to rehearse more dance moves. They are ok. But she need to do more dancing on the stage. Why? Because it will prevent her from pacing from one end of the stage to the next and her vocal will not be all over the place. Thus her performance will be more potent, interesting and appealing. The routine does not have to be too technical but unique and correlates to the song, its genre and rhythms. If she wants to reach all section of the crowd and has to move from one part of the stage to the other, she could leave the mic stand where it is and perform one part of the song at that point and then performance a part at another point.

I agree that Kelly need to rehearse more, train more and take more vocal lessons. But no one can deny that over the past year she has grown and is coming into her own.

I agree with old time kelly fan about “I don’t think Kelly wants mega-stardom. I think she wants to be able to live comfortably and sing for a living.” I feel the exact same way about it… I love Kelly but I dnt believe she wants the same thing for herself that we TRUE fans want for her… I think she just enjoys singing, but being in the music industry, performing is included in that package… I’m not gonna stan and say that all ov the performances were good when they werent… I remember wen i could listen to a performance and just feel the passion she had for what she was singing, feel the power, beauty, and soul in her voice, yet some of her performances, imo, are half-assed… The performances lately have done nothing for me… I also agree with some of the comments about inconsistency… Thats one of her biggest problems… I think she needs a better vocal coach cuz i still feel that she is holding back and cant use her vocals to their full potential… The most versatile voice in the industry, but when she is live it doesnt seem that way… She has everything she needs but refuses to put it together to make that star we KNOW SHE IS…
