KELLY Rowland is an independent woman with a unique wardrobe to match…

Kelly Rowland, 29, rose to fame as one of the founding members of Destiny’s Child. She is presenting The Fashion Show in August on TV channel Really, and her new single Commander is out now. She lives in Miami and is single.

How would you describe your style?

Class meets funk. I like mixing things all the time.

What colours, shapes and styles suit you best?
I think a woman should always show off her curves, so I like to add belts to accentuate my waist. And I love colour. If you look in my closet there are so many colours, but blue is my favourite.

Who is your style icon?

Jennifer Lopez. She has great style.

Which celebrity’s wardrobe would you like to own?

Victoria Beckham’s. She is very classy but throws in a bit of funk now and again, making it her own.

Do you have a stylist?

I work with a great girl called Laura Duncan who styled my album shoot.

Do you have a beauty secret?

Washing your face before you go to bed at night is so important. I also have a trainer who is the best trainer in the world. Before we began, she asked me every question about my likes and dislikes, what my body can do, and nutrition. I’m very busy at the moment but I still try really hard to work out two or three times a week.

How do you dress on “fat” days?

I wear what makes me feel comfortable and sexy. Even on those days when you feel like rubbish, I think it’s important that you don’t look it.

Is there anything about your body you dislike?

Cellulite! But then, show me a woman who doesn’t have cellulite.

What is the oldest item in your wardrobe?

I bought this yellow bracelet with gold bumble bees from the vintage jewellery section in Bergdorf Goodman and they dated it back to the 1920s. It’s beautiful. I once travelled with it but one of the bumble bee antennae bent back and it freaked me out. Now it sits where I can look at it.

Do you have a favourite shop or designer?

Dsquared and Dolce & Gabbana are favourites. And I’m loving Rick Owens right now. I recently went to his boutique in New York and I did a lot of damage to my credit card. There’s just so much cool stuff to choose from.

Would you say your wardrobe is more high-street or designer?

I like to think I’m both.

What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe?

Probably my Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I call my shoes my kids and I’ve lost count of how many I have. I’d say at least 100 pairs. Right now my favourite shoes in the closet are my Rodarte heels.

How much of your wardrobe is black?

I do have black but not too much. My mum always said that a woman should own at least one good black dress, so I buy one maybe once every season.

Do you wear silver or gold jewellery?

A mix of both. I like to find my jewellery from all over the world.

How many handbags do you own?

I’m kind of slacking in the handbag department. I’m very picky about my bags, though. I see buying a bag as an investment.

If your house was burning down what item would you save?

My Hermès Grace Kelly bag. I just love it. My sister gave it to me as a present but I never take it out as it’s too nice. She’s always saying, “I never see you use it,” but I don’t want to mess it up.
