Kelly Rowland has been named as one of Cosmopolitan’s Women of the Year.

The X Factor judge, who is back in the UK after having to extend her trip to the US because of illness, was named Ultimate TV Personality, while Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery was presented with the Ultimate Newcomer award at the event hosted by Fearne Cotton.

The Ultimate Icon award went to Blondie singer Debbie Harry and was presented by Kylie Minogue.

They joined guests including Tulisa Contostavlos, Amanda Holden, Karren Brady, Olly Murs and Alexandra Burke.

Real-life achievements recognised at the awards included a gong for the sister of murdered teenager Milly Dowler, Gemma, was named Ultimate Family Girl.

The Editor’s Choice award went to Lisa and Louise Hawker for their work in campaigning for justice for their sister, Lindsey, who was murdered in Japan in 2007.

The magazine’s editor Louise Court said: “It always amazes me to hear the stories of these extraordinary individuals – we receive so many remarkable nominations for the real life awards, and this year we really feel that the lives and stories of our winners are exceptional.”

Nominations for the third annual Soul Train Awards were announced yesterday (October 20) and Kelly gets 3 nominations for Best Female R&B/Soul Artist, Song of the Year, Best Dance Performance!When it comes to recognizing musical talents of yesteryear, Soul Train will honor the long careers and musical influences of R&B group Earth, Wind and Fire and singer Gladys Knight with this year’s Legend Award.

King of comedy Cedric “The Entertainer” will serve as host and The Original 7Ven, formerly known as The Time, will open the show. Multi-Grammy Award winning singer Natalie Cole, Jill Scott, Mindless Behavior, Robin Thicke, BeBe Winans and Joe will also take the stage to entertain and honor the Legend Award recipients. Producer and drummer for The Roots Questlove will also present a rendition of the “Soul Train” opening song.

The 2011 Soul Train Awards will tape on Thursday, November 17 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Georgia and air on both Centric and BET on Sunday, November 27 at 9P/8C.

Well, Well, Well, what a weekend it was guys!! Very exciting and BUSY of course! I was recording til late on Saturday and slept late on Sunday(day of Grammy’s) and I woke up to find out that David and I got a Grammy for “When Love Takes Over”!!!

How psyched am I to get another Grammy! I never take those moments for granted, but trust me there are SO many people to thank for making it such a success. David, his management and all of his amazing team. ALL the radio stations that TRULY believed in the record! I always save the best for last and that is the fans! The BEST fans in the WORLD!
