How hard was it working on your new single ‘Commander’?
It was very easy to record. Rico Love, who I had the opportunity to work with, he wrote half the record. He and I had the best chemistry in the studio. I was so happy that there’s been such good feedback on it.
This is from your third studio album?
Yes it is. The whole body of work will be out in September. I am so psyched and it’s so great. I’m so happy with the outcome and I hope everybody loves it just as much as I do.
Does ‘Commander’ reflect the style of the new album?
You know what? It’s a piece of the record. There’re dance elements and urban elements to it. I can’t forget about my urban roots. I remember some fans were asking me, ‘I know you love dance, but please don’t forget about r ‘n’ b. We love your r ‘n’ b records,” and I was like, ‘I cannot forget about r ‘n’ b’.
You’ve dabbled in movies before. Do you fancy working on another film?
As of right now, music is my main priority. If the right script were to come along though I must tell you I would totally do it.
Who’s been the biggest influence in your career?
Janet Jackson. She works extremely hard. Between her and Gladys Knight. With her voice – and Patti LaBelle. My list will go on and on. (Read more… )
Kelly remembers Michael Jackson during an NRJ Interview that took place today in Paris.
Kelly And Others Remember Michael Jackson
Kelly Rowland took the news of Jackson’s death hard as well. “I was in New York City when I heard the news about Michael’s passing. I remember being in my room and crying uncontrollably, as I’m sure a lot of people did,” Rowland said.
Just 4 days after the official release of Kelly’s new music video for Commander it has quickly reached the 1 million view mark on her YouTube (VEVO) channel. Despite the leak and other setbacks the video is doing great. Congratulations to Kelly and thank you for providing us with such a great song and video. The beginning of this era is taking off with positive energy and major support from the fans and followers. Shout out to Rico Love and David Guetta for their hard work creating the song.
In other related news the 2009 Grammy Award winning hit When Love Takes Over has 21 million views and 44 million views all together (counting the video and song) on David Guetta’s YouTube channel.
Kelly will perform her new single Commander on the UK’s GMTV Tuesday June 29th.

How I spend my weekends depends entirely on my workload during the week. If on the rare occasion I’ve had a pretty relaxed schedule, I’d spend all of Saturday socialising with friends and going out near my home in Miami. I get up early, usually around 8-9am, and make lemon pancakes with fruit and turkey bacon. If I can’t find the urge to cook, I’ll head out to my favourite restaurant, Big Pink, a stone’s throw from my house. They make the best Belgian waffles. Naughty me! (Read more… )
Video Hits’ Faustina Agolley interviews Kelly Rowland before the launch of Microsoft’s Kinect at the Gallen Center, Los Angeles. (a few hours before LA Pride)
THE sticky issue of Singapore and chewing gum has given even the likes of former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland something to chew on. The pop star lent some glamour and glitz to the grand opening of the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) integrated resort on Wednesday night when she performed at an open-air concert. But before touching down in Singapore, Rowland had already heard about Singapore’s chewing gum ban from her friends, she told Life! ahead of her performance. ‘I was terrified,’ she joked. Despite that, when asked whether she brought gum to town, she laughed, saying: ‘I don’t want to say,’ seemingly comments from international detractors of Singapore, applies only to the sale of chewing gum. On a more serious note, she said she found Singapore to be clean and beautiful, adding: ‘As I live in Miami, I also love the humidity.’ The Grammy Award-winner was here for a two-night flying visit for her gig at Sands. Apart from some of her older hits such as Dilemma, she also introduced the audience to her latest single, Commander. The single, much like the rest of her soon-to-be-released new album, is heavily inspired by dance music. She said: ‘Expect it to be a party.’ Source
Work
Kelly started off with a bang! She was a commander from the start and she sang the whole song live. Which is a plus point, if you ask me. By this time, people were shaking and dancing. It was nice. The JJ Lin fans were annoying, but at least they helped sang…
Dilemma YESSSSS. The Nelly/Kelly classic got everyone singing and this was where I got the most interaction with her. HAHA. I did the vocal runs with her and it was amazing. By this time, Kelly’s crowd interaction was on point. (Read more… )
Sunday’s star was Kelly Rowland. She obviously doesn’t have the catalog of hits that En Vogue does. But she’s stunning, sexy and can sing her ass off. No, she’s not Beyoncé. But who is? Turn off that wind machine and even Beyoncé is lacking. Kelly did a great set that wisely included a medley of Destiny’s Child songs in addition to her own material. Bravo to Rowland for flying in from Miami just for us. After we came offstage, she pulled me aside and said, “Thank you for including me in your 40th anniversary Pride celebration. I’m very honored.” I had nothing to do with her being booked, but that didn’t stop me from saying, “You’re welcome!” I’ll run a variety of photos and videos from L.A. Pride on BillyMasters.com.
