It seems X Factor judge Kelly Rowland is on the mend after an illness forced her to pull out of last weekend’s live shows. Kelly looked a picture of health, wearing an oversized black jumper over a bright yellow top and skinny jeans which she teamed with a patterned headscarf, leopard print boots and hoop earrings.
The former Destiny’s Child star missed last week’s show due to a severe throat infection, which kept her in Los Angeles and left Alexandra Burke to step in to mentor the girls.
A statement from her people said: “Kelly is devastated she won’t be here for this weekend’s show. She is extremely ill with a viral throat infection and her doctors aren’t permitting her to fly.”
Previous X Factor winner Alexandra was left in a difficult position when Misha B and Sophie Habibis were forced to battle it out in the sing-off after receiving the fewest public votes.
Kelly Rowland is taking some time off from her role as a judge on the UK’s “X Factor” because of a severe throat infection.
“I’ve been in tears all week,” Kelly told “The Sun.” “The infection is really low down in my throat.”
While there’s no word yet on the type of infection, Kelly’s rep confirmed that she is taking a break to tend to her health. “Kelly is devastated she won’t be here for this weekend’s show,” her rep said in a statement on Friday. “She is extremely ill with a viral throat infection and her doctors aren’t permitting her to fly.”
Tulisa, who viewers saw fall out with Kelly live on The X Factor and The Xtra Factor last weekend, has largely kept silent over the dispute, which began when Tulisa accused Kelly’s act Misha B of bullying other contestants. A row then erupted between the two judges when Kelly claimed that it was wrong of Tulisa to have brought up the issue in front of viewers, calling it an attempt to jeopardise Misha’s chances in the competition.
Today the N-Dubz star appeared to address the issue and the surrounding media frenzy with a cryptic message, tweeting: ‘So many Conspiracies in this world, we all need 2 open r minds, including myself…..we learn something everyday’.
Later, Tulisa tweeted another apparently veiled reference to the row with Kelly, writing: ‘Omg tots awks…’ perhaps referring to the awkwardness of her imminent ‘showdown’ with her fellow X Factor judge.
Kelly, who has been in the US since the weekend, is set to return to the UK today, allegedly in order to face up to Tulisa and the storm that has developed after the weekend’s events.
Rowland has also denied reports that she has abandoned her XF acts – Misha B, Janet Devlin and Sophie Habibis – with her rep insisting Kelly’s trip to LA had been planned long before she became a panelist on The X Factor.
Her spokesperson told The Mirror: “Kelly is not missing anything and will be in constant contact with the contestants by Skype and talking to them every day, and she is being sent MP3s of the songs,”
They added: “This has been in her diary for a long time. She is in LA for business and is only there for three days. She will be coming back on Thursday to see the girls.”
With Tulisa’s Twitter feed also making reference to ’emotional drama’ she is experiencing, it looks like this weekend’s X Factor live show could be another fiery one.
